I am a visual artist based in Watford and exhibit my work in London and Hertfordshire, take on specific commissions and sell my work privately. I also work on a freelance basis to facilitate the therapeutic capacity of the arts within public and community settings, through managing and delivering community arts and health projects, therapeutic and educational workshops, public exhibitions and installations.
My own work is concerned with images and experiences that are transient and difficult to grasp hold of or pin down. I find them everyday within the surrounding landscape and the realms of memory, often just a trace of something, a movement, a moment, a glimpse, appearing and fading away. Images from a recurring dream, light reflecting on a wall or dazzling through a space, a landscape that flashes past a train window; time, movement, light and disintegration connect them.
I explore these images and experiences through their reproduction and repetition in painting, printmaking, film and photography, interested in the process of translation from one to another, or from a memory to an image, an experience into a photograph and then into a painting. Different layers of time and imagery exist and interact in the same instant. Through playing and loosely controlling my materials and media, I allow their specific qualities to come through in this translation.
